GEMS @ The Arts is more than a place where programs happen. We create the conditions for community to happen.
Through arts, enrichment, resource access, youth leadership, cultural experiences and shared community space, people build relationships, discover opportunities and find a place where they belong. People may first walk through our doors for an activity, an event, a resource or a meeting. What keeps them connected is community.
We count participation. But we also pay attention to what numbers can’t always capture.
Those moments are impact, too.

This fall and winter, GEMS continues creating opportunities to gather, create, celebrate and belong. Whether someone comes for music, art, a community celebration, resources or simply an opportunity to connect with their neighbors, there is a place for them here.
The programs are the vehicle. Connection is the strategy. Belonging is the condition. Community is the outcome.
Creativity gives people another way to connect. Through workshops, performances, music, visual arts and artist-led experiences, GEMS creates opportunities for people of different ages and backgrounds to create alongside one another. We also want to continue developing GEMS as a home for local and emerging artists.

I started coming to Gems when I was 14. Now I'm 19 and leading my own workshops. This place doesn't just welcome youth—it empowers us to lead.
